MMM Welcomes Its Newest Class

As quickly as MMM said goodbye to its graduating class, they welcomed a new one.

Sixty new students arrived to Northwestern’s campus June 22 to participate in MMM’s orientation program Ready, Set, Go! (RSG). Students came to us from across the map, some coming all the way from India and Brazil to take on this next exciting chapter in their lives.

MMM is part of Kellogg; however, the 60-student cohort has an added bonus: They receive a second degree from Segal! That second degree is a master of science in design innovation. The students start their design coursework this summer, a quarter before the rest of Kellogg begins.

Coming to campus earlier than the rest of Kellogg really gives the MMM students a chance to acclimate to Evanston and to campus, and to really get to know one another. The MMM Program truly starts the summer off with a bang by making RSG an exciting, jam-packed three days.

To kick off the orientation, students had the opportunity to hear Audi of America VP and MMM alumna Jeri Ward deliver a keynote speech. RSG also included networking events, happy hours and hands-on workshops led by Segal faculty like Mike Beltran and Liz Gerber. Following long days of meeting and greeting, students had the chance to enjoy IA Collaborative’s rooftop space and to relax and let loose at a Cubs game.

RSG came to a fun close with a nighttime architectural boat tour that included a free fireworks show on the Chicago River. Students are now taking their first class at Segal and are looking forward to joining the rest of Kellogg in September.
